As closely as I watched the long-range forecast, our trip south was cut short due to rain. But we did have a few wonderful days of travel and are glad we didn't wait. We try to follow the weather with our travels but it seemed like every direction was being inundated with rain. We love the Natchez Trace, and spent most of two days leisurely driving its 50 mph speed limit. Then we went to Gulfport, MS, and spent a couple of nights at a motel across the road from a white sandy beach. Here is John at a cyprus swamp along the Natchez Trace and below in front of a grand live oak tree near where we stayed in Gulfport.
