On the Second Day of Christmas. . . .

my True-love gave to me . . . 2 squirrels a scampering (sans a partridge in a pear tree).

Our business partner Alex who, with her cat Dr. Ike, rents our cottage down river has been kept awake for more than a week as John has tried to trap the pesky squirrels who have been busy making a cozy warm winter nest in the insulation in her roof. The heavy snow and ice have not aided the endeavor. Then today Alex phoned us at the shop with the news that not one, but two squirrels had been captured. John squealed as though he'd won the lottery. We stopped to pick them up on our way home and relocated them several miles away in a much nicer neighborhood where we know they'll be happy---far away from the usual river-rat drama on Abrigador Trail.
