I just read this: "If lawmakers miss the approaching deadline, a wide range of federal programs would be affected, from the national parks to the Pentagon." What I find most incredulous is that the salaries, benefits and perks of the President, Senators, and House members will not be affected. We might be able to solve this problem if all funding for the the whole bunch of them---Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and whatever else they call themselves---were cut off with no provision for retroactive reimbursement.
