Living along the bank of the Grand River on Abrigador Trail, we are now official river rats--meaning that we live in a floodplain. But the term means more than that since my initials spell rat--and the reflections are ones both in my mind and on the water.

A week into the New Year finds us in Taos, New Mexico. As in past years we headed straight for Texas before the New Year ended and spent four days in our favorite January get-away, Big Bend National Park. Here is John gazing at some of the beautiful scenery at Grapevine Hills Trail.
Tonight we are staying at the historic Taos Inn, enjoying a log fire that John built in the fire place in our room. Tomorrow we head for Denver to spend the weekend with dear friends Darlene and Kathy. We will gossip and laugh and discuss issues and challenge every belief we've ever held dear until we run out of words. What fun it will be. On Sunday we will be starting our trip back home---cold, cold Michigan.
Below is a picture John snapped of me enjoying the dinner music tonight at the Taos Inn.
